Another Angry Bird card

So making Angry Bird cards is nothing new, they are fantastic standby card for young boys.  And when you have a spate of birthdays for young boys - they are my turn-to card!!

Anyway, I needed some cards and I needed them in a hurry.  My son Matthew was invited to a heap of seven/eight year old birthday parties and I left them all to the night before to make, ugh!!

And as you can see, you can make these cards real quick!! I used my punches and circle framelits for these guys.  The beak is a folded square!

 

I love how you can mix these cards up and give them a bit of personality, just by changing their eye brows and pupils.  So cool.

Anyway, my son Matthew thought these cards were super cool (he doesn't need to know how simple they were!!) and trust me, when you're making this design, you might as well make a few of them at the one sitting!!

So what else I've been up to???

I have to be honest and say, I'm really struggling to find time to make what I enjoy the most.  Making cards.  I struggle each day to find time and even the energy to sit at the table and create.  It's not from a lack of want or desire, just lack of time in the day.

I hope things slow down soon and I can return to my normal creative self.  I've even packed my craft table and all its contents away in preparation for our Christening on Sunday and having all our friends and family over for lunch afterwards.  But I am creating.  Just little things I can do while sitting on the floor next to my kids who want my attention.  They kind of get attention, while I look down occasionally at my needles and threads or crochet hooks!!

One of the things I've made lately, is this embroidered felt brooch I made when joining a local Brown Owls group.  It's really cute and I've already started on my second!

So I will be back soon with more cards and projects.  We're currently organising Stamp Camp.  It's gonna be great, you'll love it!!

A Scottie Dog

It must be getting closer to Christmas as I'm running SO BEHIND!!

But I did make a little feltie for my sister-in-law.  She just loves Scottie dogs so when I saw this little dog, I just had to make one for her!  But lets go back to the beginning:

The other day, I shared my gift for the International Handmade Christmas Gift Exchange that I participated in.  I have NOW received my gift and will be sharing it with you tomorrow :0).  TO see the Gift Exchange, just click here.  While looking at all the other gifts that were part of the Gift Exchange, I stumbled upon this gorgeous little Scottie Dog.  So cute!  As Margie (my SIL) loves Scottie Dogs and has two little black ones, I had to make her a Scottie Dog Christmas Ornament.  I didn't want to do black though (not Christmas-y) so I kept with traditional Christmas colours and to complete the little dog, he got a tartan bow.  Too cute!!

 

Tomorrow I'll go back to my stamping projects and the 12 weeks of Christmas projects, but I just had to share this little pup!

Handmade Gift Exchange

This year I participated in the International Handmade Gift Exchange!  Hosted by Craftaholics Anonymous, we were required to make a Handmade Gift for a person carefully selected and matched to you.  In return, a Handmade Gift would be sent to you in return.

Of course, I joined in (who wouldn't for such a wonderful idea) but then the hard bit came .... what to make!!  So I brought together some of my favourite craft types to make a little package!!

Firstly, I made a Softie from felt (my all-time favourite craft at the moment) and made these cute little Christmas Mittens (one for me and one for my gift exchange, as I hate parting with something I've made unless I've made two!!):

I made them from Christmas red felt, stitched with a blanket stitch and then decorated with white (handcut) snowflakes, ribbon and buttons.  I made one with a folded cuff and one without, and they both looked good!!

I then added a little Washer necklace I had made using the (now retired) Bella Rose papers from Stampin' Up! (love those papers!):

The necklace was then carefully hidden into the little mitten (the perfect gift keeper!):

I then put them all together with a little card I made (of course, you knew there would be a card didn't you?):

I then wrapped them all with some blue tissue paper and made a ribbon & flower tie for the finishing touch!

The little flower was cut with my Big Shot and a Flower Layers die (love how these dies cut through felt), tied up with a button and sewn onto the ribbon.  These photos show the cute little layers. 

So now this little package is on the way to my Gift Exchange partner - Jocelyn.  I hope she likes them!

Here's what I used:

Mitten: Red & White felt, red thread, satin ribbon & button
Necklace: Washer, white paint, Crystal Effects (SU), Bella Rose DSP (SU) and circle punches, beads and bead findings, leather strap
Card: Whisper White CS, Fun & Fast Notes stamp set, Stampin' Write Markers (all SU)
Wrapping: Blue tissue paper, Green, Blue, White & Purple Felt, button, satin ribbon & cotton thread

Now I had better get back to the business of making cards and gifts for my own family!!

More Owls

I just had to share my third owl I have made for my nieces.  This one is yellow and joins the other two!  I have so enjoyed making these owls, that I have already cut pieces to make some more!!  A blue one next!

Owls

I love craft.  I am passionate about papercraft, especially making cards!  But I do like to dabble with other crafts too!  I enjoy sewing but don't seem to find time for longer or complex projects, so I am really enjoying creating my felties!!

One of my current projects are these cute owls in the current edition of the Notebook Magazine.  They are so cute!!  Here's a pic from the Notebook Magazine:

And here's my first owl to show - it's for one of my gorgeous nieces.  I'll leave it to my gorgeous nieces to pick their colours .... I'll just make them!!  I'm also making one for baby Jessica as well as my sister, so I've a few more to add to the collection!  And here's my purple owl!!

So how does this relate to Stampin' Up! you might ask?   Well, the new 2010-2011 SU Idea Book & Catalogue is due out in a few more sleeps (September 1, 2010).  And you'll be pleasantly surprised by their Oh So Cute owl punch.  I will be ordering one for myself in a few more sleeps.  I need cards and tags to match my feltie owls!!

Easter Felties

I know I said I wouldn't, but here I am anyway with some more Easter projects!  Good excuse this time.  Both my boys received over the weekend lots and lots of Easter Eggs from all our family in Melbourne.  But this time, they also received the funkiest and coolest Easter Egg cosies ever, hand made by Nana Cheryl.  Aren't they super cool???

Isn't it amazing what you can do with felt and thread, plus a little imagination!!

The fruity sisters are done!!

Hooray!  I finally finished my third fruity doll for my nieces.  It's been a long work in progress and now they're all done and I can send them to my nieces.  Although I think Matthew will be most upset at losing his 'babies' that he quite often picks up and plays with!!  Maybe I'll make him a blue one!!

 Don't you love their fruity names I gave them!  Now my sister has to work out which of my nieces get the pink one, the purple one or the yellow one!!  Ha Ha!! That's the hardest job of all!

I love flowers

If you're a blog surfer like me, you would have noticed that handmade flower embellishments are all the thing at the moment! And of course I just had to have a go!!

I pulled out my Big Shot and one of the Sizzix flower layers dies, some coloured felt, buttons and thread. Here's my first go:

I used shades of lilac, white, blue and green (although mental note: don't use green felt as a background - quite loud!!). Light blue buttons and a brooch backing, means I can use these to dress up something. No brooch backing and I have a flower for a scrap layout or card. Cool!!

I have more colour combo's and different textures in mind. Back to the Big Shot!!

It's been a while .....

... between posts. So far my resolutions for the new year, haven't stayed very strong!!

Anyway, it's always a challenge combining family life with work, school holidays, a few bugs and the computer, but we aim to try - if not please.

I've finally finished one of the projects I've been working on frantically to have finished for our trip to Melbourne over the weekend. The good news is, I finished them - the bad news is, I forgot to pack them. Doh!!

They are cute, if I do say so myself!!

Meet the Fruity Sisters

When I'm not working with paper, you may find me working with materials, felt and threads. A few months ago, I made two felt purses for my niece Bella. Now I've finished two fruity sisters for my nieces (Bella, Ilsa & Lily - such pretty names). Let me introduce you:

This is Strawberry Cream. You may have met her already, but now she's been dressed with a ribbon and a better fitting hat. Isn't she adorable!

And this is Lemon Blossom. She's very new and a little bit shy, but oh so cute too.

These sisters are good friends, just like I hope my nieces will be!
